The Consumers Protection Agency–Sierra Leone (CPA-SL) has presented a Certificate of Recognition and Commitment in the Downstream Petroleum Industry to the Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Mr Brima Baluwa Koroma, in recognition of his exemplary leadership in regulating petroleum products and advancing effective service delivery for consumers across Sierra Leone.
The award acknowledges the Director General's contribution to strengthening regulatory standards, promoting consumer protection and improving operational efficiency within Sierra Leone's downstream petroleum sector.
Presenting the award on behalf of the Executive Director of CPA-SL, Mr David Fengeh explained that the recognition followed a nationwide assessment undertaken by the agency to identify public institutions that have made significant contributions to national development while delivering measurable benefits to citizens.
According to Mr Fengeh, the NPRA emerged as one of the institutions that satisfied the agency's benchmark for excellence in public service delivery. He noted that the recognition was intended not only to celebrate the Authority's achievements but also to encourage other public institutions to pursue similar standards of professionalism, accountability and commitment to consumers.
Receiving the award, Director General Brima Baluwa Koroma expressed appreciation to CPA-SL for recognising the Authority's reform agenda and institutional achievements since 2018. He reaffirmed that the NPRA remains focused on three strategic priorities: ensuring fair and affordable petroleum prices nationwide, protecting investments within the downstream petroleum industry, and maintaining a stable and sustainable revenue stream for the Government of Sierra Leone.
Mr Koroma reaffirmed the Authority's commitment to delivering high-quality regulatory services while safeguarding the reputation and credibility of the institution. He also encouraged journalists and media practitioners to continue supporting the dissemination of accurate and factual information regarding the work and achievements of the NPRA.
He further observed that although the global petroleum industry remains highly volatile, the Government of Sierra Leone continues to implement measures aimed at ensuring the sustained availability, reliability and adequate supply of petroleum products throughout the country.
The recognition further reinforces the NPRA's commitment to regulatory excellence, consumer protection and continuous improvement in the downstream petroleum sector.
